With a background in working with children and young people I create an engaging, informal environment and carefully tailor my approach and pace to carefully meet your child’s interests and needs.

I use an integrated approach  incorporating traditional  CBT  and  Hypnotherapy methods  with Mindfulness, Relaxation Techniques, Play, Games, Digital media, Art  and Storytelling.

Drawn from evidenced based approaches I create a treatment plan that is responsive to each child’s needs and preferences.

I have experience in supporting  a wide range of  issues including:

For children under 16, I always have a parent or main caregiver in the room throughout treatment and liaise with parents outside of sessions to monitor and  review progress.

We have very sensitive child. She had an ongoing situation with separation anxiety. The SENCO at school recommended Emma. Even in our introductory chat I felt she understood our situation. She was utterly attentive and very compassionate. Our child was enamoured with Emma from the first second! Emma used talk,art and play therapy to help our daughter. What was surprisingly useful was an elementary explanation of how the brain works. My daughter’s face relaxed with a “oh, so that’s why I do what I do!” Epiphany!!! Emma’s approach provided a simple and honest explanation of the human condition and provided my child with tools to use to help her cope with this fast--paced modern world. I observed my daughter doing breathing exercises whilst brushing her hair the next morning. I asked her why. She looked at me as if I was daft and simply said “because they work!” Enough said. Emma has really helped both myself and my daughter. I have been suffering from insomnia for years but after a few sessions with Emma my sleeping has really improved. My daughter has been suffering from quite bad anxiety which resulted in her pulling her hair out and pinching herself causing bruising. From the first session with Emma my daughter felt comfortable and at ease to openup. After several sessions working through what was causing her anxieties my daughter no longer feels the need to hurt herself and her confidence in being able to overcome what was causing her anxieties has grown so much.
